Art for your wrist: HUBLOT CLASSIC FUSION CHRONOGRAPH ORLINSKI RED CERAMIC

by Hours and Minutes Australia

Hublot is one brand that carries the baton, when it comes to material innovation, creativity and technical progression. The new Classic Fusion Chronograph Orlinski Red Ceramic released a few days ago, has been paired with the brand’s patented red ceramic. Why RED? The colour of life and of passion, red evokes Richard Orlinski’s first Born Wild Crocodile sculpture. Created in 2004, it features this vivid and powerful shade of red, which has since gone on to become the most recognisable colour in his menagerie.

Sculpted in collaboration with the contemporary French pop artist, this 45mm Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph is released in a limited edition of 200 pieces. Set in the polished red ceramic case and bezel is a skeletonised dial, with matt red lacquer hands and indexes. With a power reserve of 42 hours and 50m water resistance, this limited-edition timepiece runs on the HUB1155 self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. The superbly smooth red rubber strap completely repurposes the unconventional.  A fascinating yet paradoxical colour, the colour red symbolises the sometimes contradictory extremes of our sentiments. Love, rage, courage, risk, prohibition, zeal… The Classic Fusion Chronograph Orlinski Red Ceramic is clearly a watch which appeals to the emotions.

‘RED CERAMIC’ is definitely not new to Hublot. Earlier this year at Baselworld, Hublot expanded its catalogue of innovations by adding a new feat: the first ceramic to be created in a vibrant colour. According to Hublot, the red on the new Big Bang Unico Red Magic is achieved through a major innovation whereby a fusion of pressure and heat sinters the ceramic without burning the pigments.  This process is definitely a first and never been done before in industries using technical and aesthetic ceramics. It took Hublot four years to master this discovery and develop it from initial idea to its industrialisation. The invention is 100% Hublot and the expertise has been patented.
