Speculation abounded about what the world’s best names in haute horlogerie would have to offer in the weeks running up to Baselworld 2018, that concluded on the 27th of March. As always, Rolex did not fail to impress! With a collection of 5 outstanding timepieces, the new Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31mm with a malachite dial was a hot choice.

Go Green

Rolex’s classic 31mm Oyster Perpetual Datejust strides boldly into the present with 3 new models, in white, rose and yellow gold. Each model has with it a beautiful new dial and a new in-house developed manufacture movement.

The 18K yellow gold Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31mm has a regal emerald green-coloured malachite dial and a bezel set with 46 brilliant-cut diamonds, adding just the right dose of sparkle and glamour to this timepiece. The precise gem-setting serves to demonstrate the refined abilities of the gemologists and artisans at Rolex, who painstaking place each stone in a manner that best shows-off its beauty and luster.

In striking contrast to the bright green dial, the watch has 18K gold and diamond-set applied Roman hour markers at 6 and 9 o’clock. These beautiful aesthetic accents draw the eye of the wearer and the beholder, causing them to pause and admire the pure elegance of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31mm.

Gen-Next

The new Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31mm is fitted, for the first time with the Rolex in-house automatic movement 2236 and indicates the hours, minutes and seconds with gold central hands. The movement is COSC certified as a superlative chronometer and also has Rolex’s own post-testing certification.

Rolex’s signature cyclops window appears at 3 o’clock to display the date, and the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31mm features stop-seconds which allows for incredibly accurate time-setting.

While many may feel that green is a colour not meant for everyone, after seeing this breathtaking Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31mm with its outstanding green malachite dial, we have no choice but to disagree!
