How would you sum up the last few months for TAG Heuer in Australia?

It’s been an exciting year so far, starting with the launch of our new tennis ambassadors in Melbourne, followed by the global launch of key product including the first carbon composite hairspring featured in the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02 Tourbillon Nanograph. We’ve also released new product launches at Basel including the new look Autavia, Carrera Calibre 16 and Carrera Ladies collections. Most recently we had our global ambassador, Chris Hemsworth celebrate the Autavia collection at an intimate VIP luncheon in Rose Bay.

What are the key ingredients of TAG Heuer’s success?

There are several factors which contribute to the success of TAG Heuer. Which includes the rich brand history and stories which dates to 1860, the continuous focus on product and innovation, and a passion for accuracy and disruptive design are essential elements to the success of the brand.

Why do you think bronze has gained such popularity over the last few years?

The introduction of new materials such has bronze has gained popularity in the market and offers an alternative to the traditional silver. The trend in demand for vintage style watches has resulted in an increase in timepieces incorporating bronze in the design as it gives the watch an elegant aged look. Our new Autavia collection features two models with a striking bronze case along with a smoked effect dial available in either brown or khaki strap, which is ideal for those looking for a classic vintage inspired timepiece.

Vintage-style watches…

The trend of vintage inspired watches is trend which continues to grow. It is important as a brand to commemorate timepieces from our heritage and showcase this to a new generation. It will be interesting to see if the demand for this trend continues for many years to come.

This year TAG Heuer celebrates the 50th Anniversary of its iconic Monaco timepiece. What has made this watch so iconic?

The Monaco is a true testament of TAG Heuer’s legacy and we are thrilled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic timepiece. Launched in 1969, the daring design made it instantly recognizable and was the perfect combination of Swiss Avant Garde technology, being the first watch to feature a water-resistant square case and an automatic winding chronograph movement. At the time our Honorary Chairman, Jack Heuer strongly believed that motor racing was the right alignment for the brand, and the timepieces should be linked to the names and places of leading races around the world. Named after the Monaco Grand Prix, the timepiece not only perfectly symbolises the motor racing alignment but also pays tribute to the glamorous style of the race. Another icon of our times, Steve McQueen famously wore the Monaco in the movie Le Mans in the 1970s and fifty years later McQueen famously continues to be the face of the Monaco.

The new Carrera Calibre 16 timepieces. What makes the collection so unique?

This year we have introduced four new additions to the Carrera Calibre 16 collection. The models have evolved to become the ideal timepiece not only for drivers but also motor sport and watch aficionados. The improved features include larger pronounced sub dials and the index markers are entirely luminescent to increase optimal visibility in any condition. The revamped 41mm Calibre 16 is a unique collection because it combines performance with a sporty style distinguished appearance. The result is a timepiece that is as functional and comfortable as it is fashionable.
