INTRODUCING: Oris James Morrison ‘Academy of Music’ (AoM) Limited Edition

by Hours and Minutes Australia

Humming a new tune this year, Oris and Australian jazz musician / multi-instrumentalist James Morrison proudly unveil the new Oris James Morrison ‘Academy of Music’ (AoM) Limited Edition.

James Morrison plays multiple roles, but all of them bound by notes of music. Born in 1962, James is also a composer and the founder of the James Morrison Academy of Music, or AoM, a dedicated jazz school in partnership with the University of South Australia, which opened in 2015 offering degree courses in jazz performance. Jazz fans will recognise James first as a trumpeter, and it’s this instrument that is most closely linked to the watch created in his name. His unparalleled influence knows no bounds and hence it was only logical that Oris, that has had a long-standing association with music, would honour the legend by producing a limited edition timepiece in his name.

Designed in collaboration with the James Morrison ‘Academy of Music’ (AoM), this 1,234 (That’s how you start a band) piece limited edition men’s classic is brimming with several telling references that reflect the music icon and the academy.

Set inside the 38mm round multi-piece stainless steel case, the stunning gradient ‘dégradé’ dial is imbibed with a gorgeous blue colour palette that has been inspired by the Blue Lake in Mt Gambier. While the black-and-blue look of the timepiece makes a fashion-forward statement, the printed indices and the central golden hours and minutes hands, filled with SuperLuminova, offer great readability. The counterbalance of the central seconds hand, which is shaped like the finger hook of a trumpet, adds to the overall charm of this piece. The caseback is engraved with the academy logo (a trumpet) and the limited edition number.

Powered by a high performance 733, base SW 200-1 movement, the watch delivers a power reserve of approx. 38 hours. While the well-sealed case helps ensure water resistance up to 3 bar, it comes fitted with a black leather strap replete with a stainless steel folding clasp.

Recommended Retail Price: $3,000 Australian Dollars
