Two graduates of A. Lange & Söhne’s in-house training programme were named among 2018’s top trainees by the Saxony Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Dresden on 1 October. Tool mechanic Alex Kluge, 38, from Dresden, and watchmaker Martin Cordes, 27, from Tübingen, completed their apprenticeships in January and July 2018, respectively, and are now being honoured for their outstanding exam results. As part of this initiative, Lange has also been awarded the “Outstanding training company” seal for the fourth time. Martin Cordes, who now works as a watchmaker in one of A. Lange & Söhne’s assembly workshops, will additionally receive the award for best trainee in the state of Saxony and whole Germany later this year.

Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Söhne, congratulated the graduates: “These outstanding achievements are reasons to celebrate. First and foremost, for the trainees and their families, of course, but particularly for our manufactory, too. We are proud that our in-house trainee programme has originated almost 200 outstanding watchmakers and tool mechanics in its over 20 years of existence and that most of them still work with us. After all, our company needs the best new talents to take our level of quality to new heights.”
