Fine wines and fine watches… It’s something that seems to have many takers. There’s a bit of an analogy here. Just like an exceptional wine requires the best of skills, so does this latest release by Chopard. And, just as a Grand Cru wine is classified and certified, the excellent craftsmanship of the new L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru is attested by the “Poinçon de Genève” quality hallmark. The highly distinctive shape is reminiscent of the oak barrels from the forests of Bertrange, Jupille and Tronçais, which transform great vintages into exceptional wines.
The L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru combines the sensuality of Haute Horlogerie with a new “tonneau” Chronometer. This is the only tonneau shape watch wound by an automatic movement and has been inspired by the historical pocket watches of the Maison founded by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in 1860.
The 18-carat rose gold timepiece features pronounced curves. It is ultra-slim and beautifully rounded. This is an out and out classic with its understated and elegant dial, balanced proportions and perfect finishing for the case and movement. The pure white porcelain type dial bearing black Roman numerals speaks of a noble lineage.
With form follows functionality. The stamp of excellence is second nature to the Manufacture. This chronometer is Poinçon de Genève certified. The tonneau is a traditional shape of watch case that requires particular mastery. Part rectangle, part circle, the L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru is less strict than the former and every bit as gentle as the latter. The maximum width of the case is almost equivalent to its height, ensuring a generously ample dial. The 3.3 mm thick calibre 97.01-L is housed within the watch. The movement has been specially made to fit into the case of the watch.
Unique in many respects, the L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru is intended for distinguished men who collect both great wines and exceptional pieces: the ultimate modern epicurean.
