When it comes to precision and resilience, many would subconsciously move towards a CITIZEN. There’s something about the Japanese watchmaker that ticks all the boxes and never disappoints with their high price-performance ratio. Over the past few years, CITIZEN has racked up some impressive collaborations and a good example is the Blue Angels Promaster Nighthawk. Inspired by the Blue Angels, the US Navy’s elite flight demonstration squadron, this state of the art light powered engineering marvel, packs quite a punch.
For starters, it features a navy blue 42mm ion-plated stainless steel case. The yellow and blue combination brings out the watch’s bold aesthetics in the best possible way.
Despite the busy-looking dial, legibility is not compromised, instead, time reading off the dial is easy and quick all thanks to the large luminous hands and markers. In keeping with the needs and wants of pilots, an inner rotating slide rule bezel which sits around the indexes, is operated via the crown at 8 o clock. Other features include dual time capability, low-charge indication, a power saver function and a date window at 3 o clock.
A B877 calibre working in tandem with CITIZEN’s propriety Eco-Drive movement enables a run time of 6 months from when the watch is fully charged. The Blue Angel’s insignia proudly appears on the caseback.
With a recommended retail price of $550 Australian Dollars for the leather strap model and $599 for the stainless steel bracelet, the Blue Angels Promaster Nighthawk is a great everyday watch, and if you’re a fan of the Squadron, we’re pretty sure you’ll have a whole new level of appreciation.
