A watch is attractive not just for the level of its quality and precision. Design plays a significant role. High hand height adds depth to the watch and gives it an alluring charm. Even though height only differs by several hundred microns, these new movements will expand the possibilities of designs for watches with multi-layer dials.
Caliber Super 2036
The Caliber Super 2036 was developed based on the Caliber Super 2035. It will be launched in Fall/Winter 2018. It has the same high hand height as the regular Caliber 2036 but with a longer battery life, covered coil and other features, as specified below.
Caliber Super 2036 – Watch Design
By incorporating a cut design in the gold dial (2nd dial), parts of the black dial (1st dial) can be seen acting as hour markers for the dial. This not only improves the readability of the watch but adds depth to the watch face design. One feature of the Caliber Super 2036 is its gold color. The center of the watch is transparent so the gold movement can be seen. This design feature also adds depth to the overall design.
Caliber GL13 and GM13
The Caliber GL13 and GM13 are high hand height versions of Miyota’s standard slim-type movements Caliber GL10 and GM10. In general, when making layers in the dial, a watch tends to become thicker. However, using Miyota’s slim-type movements, layers can be used in the dial design for slim dress-type watches, creating a sophisticated classical watch face.
Caliber GM13 Watch Design
The watch design featuring the Caliber GM13 combines two dials and metal block hour markers. The key element of this design is that the lower dial (1st dial) and movement are visible from the top dial (2nd dial).
Caliber GL13
An elegant design is created by incorporating a diamond hour marker and multi-layer dials. The high hand movement allows the watch hand to be placed above the mounted diamond. The Caliber GL13 provides greater freedom for creating a variety of watch designs.
Caliber 9T22 with Longer Battery Life
Miyota’s extensive slim-type movement line-up consists of the Caliber GL/GM Series and the Caliber 9T/9U Series. The Caliber 9T/9U Series has long-standing popularity among premium slim-type watches. The demand for slim-type watches continues, resulting in a strong and stable demand for such movements within the industry. The Caliber 9T22 has been given enhanced usability by extending its battery life from two years to three.
