Chanel’s pre baselworld 2019 releases have starting rolling in and the new Monsieur de Chanel (MONSIEUR ÉDITION NOIRE) is one you’d wanna keep an eye out for. Encased in a highly resistant black ceramic case, this 55 piece limited edition timepiece measures 42mm in diameter and is slightly larger than the platinum version (40mm) unveiled last year at Baselworld 2018.
Monsieur de Chanel got its claim to fame back in 2016, when it dropped version 1 of this timepiece which featured an in-house movement called Calibre 1. This is Chanel’s first in-house movement. A paragon of flawlessness, the watch showcased adroit watchmaking abilities and superior aesthetics.
For this new release, the French couture house continues with its popular Caliber 1 movement. Composed of 170 components, Calibre 1 powers the 240-degree retrograde minute display, the small seconds counter and the jumping hour at 6 o clock and beats at a frequency of 4Hz. It features 2 barrels in series with a fixed brace, a spring torque of approximately 700 g.mm and a shock absorber system on the balance.
