This year, Montblanc takes its spirit of exploration and love for nature to new heights by unveiling three new bronze and khaki green themed timepieces at SIHH 2019… an 1858 Automatic, Chronograph and an 1858 Geosphere model.
A reinterpretation of the Minerva pocket watches and chronographs from the 1920s and 1930s, the new Montblanc 1858 timepieces capture the spirit of the past in a modern way combining a vintage- looking bronze case enriched with aluminium that evolves over time and innovative, highly functional in-house complications. Trusted companions for outdoor adventures, these timepieces are designed for modern-day explorers who set their own challenges, express their own personal style, live authentic lifestyles and find harmony with nature to reach new heights in life.

Montblanc’s new 1858 Geosphere Limited Edition is a watch dedicated to the world’s Seven Summit mountaineering challenge, the holy grail of mountaineering adventures. With its 42mm bronze case and khaki green dial, the maison reaffirms its love for nature and the great outdoors. The polished and satin-finished bronze cases feature slim bevelled horns while the case back is crafted from titanium featuring a bronze colour coating. The case back is also engraved with the emblematic Montblanc mountain, a compass and two crossed ice pick-axes, as a nod to the spirit of mountain exploration.
Just like the previous 1858 Geosphere, this one features two turning northern and southern hemisphere globes at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock with a 24-hour scale and day-night indication. The hour and minutes hands are displayed at the centre of the dial. Accentuating that vintage-vibe further, are the khaki green with beige Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova®, red gold-coated luminescent cathedral-shaped hour-hand and minute-hand (with a “cloisonné” design which has been slightly domed for one of the finest finishes); beige time zone hand coated with Super-LumiNova® and the historical Montblanc logo at 3 o’clock.
Limited to 1858 pieces, the watch is powered by an MB 29.25 movement with automatic winding delivering a power reserve of approx. 42 hours. In order to guarantee the performance of the product line, all Montblanc 1858 models undergo over 500 hours of simulated wear, with specific testing and controls under extreme conditions.
Providing a contemporary look, the automatic, chronograph and Geosphere watches are all equipped with high-quality woven “NATO” straps. These straps are handcrafted in France at a traditional weaving manufacture that has been in production for over 150 years.
