From technical excellence to aesthetic appeal, this new collection brings together the world of jewellery and watches with utter elegance and finesse and today we’re giving all your gorgeous women out there a few reasons to consider Montblanc’s Star Legacy Collection.
History and a story to tell
A lady is always on the lookout for dainty details that tell a story. It makes it all the more exciting. The Minerva heritage (forerunner of what has today become the Montblanc manufacture in Villeret today) and legacy dates back to 1858 when the company specialized in gold pocket watches. It was in the year 1880, Minerva experienced considerable growth with the introduction of a pocket watch which was among the first that could be wound through a crown instead of a separate key. The Star Legacy Collection takes its inspiration from Minerva and the company’s pocket watches that were made during the late 19th century and early 20th century.
Case
In celebration of Minerva’s exceptional heritage and history, the maison has enhanced the level of classic finishing to the design while keeping the key elements making it the perfect accessory to suit every occasion from a glamor-filled night to a more casual evening. The Montblanc Star Legacy timepieces feature round cases with a curved finish on the sides, giving a refined and shaped pebble effect, along with horns that have steps on the sides. Even the crown here stands out with its recognisable and easy-grip onion-shape, adorned on the side with the iconic Montblanc emblem in mother-of-
pearl. There are two sizes on offer, a 32mm and a 36mm; both come in a choice of five different versions: four in stainless steel and one in 18K red gold.
Dial
Amplifying the vivacity of the watch is the exploding star guilloché pattern in the centre, highlighting an elegant and distinctive diamond ring at 6 o’clock that encircles the small seconds counter, which also contains a smaller Montblanc exploding star guilloché pattern. This jewellery feature is not only new for Montblanc but is quite rare in watchmaking. Other aesthetic details include elegant leaf shaped hands, the completely redesigned Arabic numerals at 3, 9 and 12 o clock and a unique railway minute track that features dots instead of lines (a rare twist, which according to Montblanc is found only in very few models from the late 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century).
The stainless-steel models come with the option of a diamond bezel set with 68 Top Wesselton diamonds (0.5032 ct.) for the 32 mm versions and with 76 Top Wesselton diamonds (0.5624 ct.) for the 36 mm version. They are fitted with silvery-white dials and with anthracite-coloured Arabic numerals, indexes and leaf-shaped hands.
The 32 mm 18K red gold version features an ivory-coloured dial, while the 36 mm model comes with a chocolate-coloured dial. Both feature refined red gold-coated Arabic numerals, indexes, leaf-shaped hands and are fitted with Sfumato alligator straps from the Montblanc Pelletteria in varying shades of brown. The 32-mm model has a strap colour that is close to camel and the 36 mm version one is more of a chocolate hue. Both are fitted with an 18K red gold pin buckle and powered by an automatic winding movement Calibre MB24.08 for the 32mm and Calibre MB24.16 for the 36 mm.
Strap
The watches are offered in a colourful Sfumato alligator straps that come from the Montblanc Pelletteria, the Maison’s own leather Manufacture in Florence, Italy. “Sfumato” is the Italian word for “smokey” or “blurred” and refers to a process that achieves delicate graduation between colours by blending areas into one another through the superimposition of many layers of thin paint. When applied to the treatment of leather, it gives each painted piece an elegant patina. As the individual straps are delicately painted by hand, each one makes every timepiece completely unique.
