Oris’ passion for aviation reveals itself once again with their newest partnership with the Tactical Leadership Programme
(TLP), an elite NATO pilot training school, founded in 1978 – based in the Spanish city of Albacete. To commemorate this partnership, the Raymonds of the Horological world have unveiled a unique 750 piece limited edition timepiece, based on its ever-popular, flight-ready ProPilot line of pilot’s watches. INTRODUCING: Oris Pro Pilot TLP Limited Edition.
The 44mm multi-piece stainless steel, gun-metal grey PVD-coated case of the Oris Pro Pilot TLP Limited Edition ought to be a familiar sight to those acquainted with Oris’ Propilot Line. The knurled bezel is inspired by the turbines of a modern jet engine, adding to the watch’s pilot watch credentials while the lugs are curved downwards as they extend out from the case, making the watch sit a lot better on the wrist. Despite being an aviation timepiece, the water resistance offered by the case is an impressive 100m.
The olive green dial – inspired by TLP pilots’ flight overalls, features highly legible white hour and minute hands that are treated with SuperLuminova and beige detailing taken from the eagle in the TLP logo. The beige Arabic numerals further enhance the legibility quotient by contrasting well with the green dial. The immaculately designed day and date aperture at 3 is set without disturbing the balance of the dial. Another well thought out detail is the red tip on the black seconds hand.
The reverse of the watch is a solid, screwed in stainless steel, gun-metal grey PVD-coated, case back that features an engraved TLP Logo and the limited-edition number of the watch. Fitted with an in-house Calibre 752, based on the Sellita SW220-1, the new Oris Pro Pilot TLP Limited Edition delivers a power reserve of 38 hours. Completing the look is a green
Ventile®, high-performance textile strap – which was invented during the Second World War for British Royal Air Force pilots. It saved the lives of countless pilots forced to ditch during operations.
Alongside the civilian model, Oris is also offering pilots graduating from TLP the opportunity to own a bespoke edition that will carry their name, programme year and limited-edition number on the case back. The watches are presented in an olive and orange travel pouch and with a card holder, where the warranty card will be, both in Ventile®. The go-anywhere tool watch embodies the TLP’s spirit – to provide excellent training, foster friendships and promote cooperation between nations.
