Panerai, one of the most recognisable brands in the world, presents two very stylish interpretations of its iconic Luminor Marina Watch. Available in 42mm (PAM00977) and 44mm (PAM00978), both these watches feature a brand new silver-coloured dial and a case crafted from AISI 316L stainless steel, an alloy particularly resistant to corrosion.
The stainless steel case is further enhanced with the classic bridge lever device, patented by Panerai in the 1950s, to protect the winding crown and to help ensure the water-resistance of the watch, and a bracelet of the same kind, that makes all the difference. The shape of each link recalls the iconic bridge and it is harmoniously integrated with the other links without any screws – in a bracelet which is perfectly ergonomic, flexible and pleasant on the wrist, sporty, yet sophisticated in design with alternating polished and brushed finishes.
Overall, the design and finish of the watch is smooth and sophisticated, with clearly defined curves.
The silver-coloured dial has a special brushed finish formed of vertical stripes, and large figures covered with white luminous material ensuring excellent visibility at night and underwater. The blue seconds hand at 9 o clock adds a dash of pop to the overall look. Blue because it’s the colour of Panerai and the sea; the element with which the brand has always been historically linked. There is also a date window at 3 o clock.
The movement is clearly visible through the wide sapphire crystal porthole set in the back. The P.9010 calibre has a device for stopping the balance wheel to synchronise the watch and the mechanism for rapidly adjusting the hour hand, which can be moved forwards or backwards without interfering with the running of the minute hand. This particular function, very useful when setting the time or changing the time zone, also enables the date to be adjusted very quickly.
The two versions of the new Luminor Marina, PAM00977 (42MM) and PAM00978 (44MM), are water-resistant to 10 bar (100 metres) and 300 bar (300 metres) respectively.
