As part of their Pre SIHH 2019 releases, Panerai is introducing a new version of its submersible Chrono. The new Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Edition PAM00982 honours French free-diving world champion Guillaume Néry. As a multiple world record holder and the double reigning world champion, Guillaume’s goals go well beyond the simple realm of sport. Today, retired from the competition, he devotes himself to transmitting his passion to others and exploring the wonders of nature still hidden in the undersea world with his spectacular photography and breathtaking videos.
Crafted in titanium, the new PAM00982 features a 47mm case with a water resistance rating of 300m. The uni-directional rotating bezel on the case is also constructed in titanium with an applied blue ceramic disc. Ultra-strong and corrosion resistant, this is one ‘Serious Diver’s Watch’. She might be a light weight but in no way is the watch’s performance compromised.
On the right side of the case, is Panerai’s iconic crown guard which prevents the wearer from accidentally moving the crown during a dive. On the left, the two chronograph pushers activate / reset the flyback chronograph.
The shark grey dial and striking blue accents blend in really well with the titanium case. The Hours and Minutes hands and chronograph seconds hand (in Blue) are displayed at the centre of the dial. At 9 o clock, you have a running seconds sub dial while the elapsed chronograph hours are displayed at 3 o clock. The silver coloured central hand indicates the chronograph minutes.
Legibility under water is key, which is why Panerai has placed applied luminous white dots and indexes on the dial. The watch is powered by a P.9100 calibre with a power reserve of 72 hours, all thanks to its two barrel arrangement. Engraved on the case back is a rendering of Guillaume Néry diving along with the depth of his final record dive he achieved in a single breath (126m). The new Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Edition is presented on a blue rubber strap and a trapezoidal titanium buckle.
