2019 is clearly the year of the Submersible collection for Panerai. Solid and strong, with unrivalled visibility even at great depths and a uniquely distinctive appearance, the Submersible line of watches are professional diving instruments that draw inspiration from the history of the brand, but look forward to the future, presenting innovative technical solutions.
Militarised to the very last detail, the new Panerai Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech PAM00961, being released at SIHH 2019, will BLOW YOUR MIND! For this release, Panerai has something very special up its sleeve. With the purchase of every PAM00961, buyers will be able to enjoy a personalised experience / training session under COMSUBIN, the Diving and Commando Group of the Italian Navy.
Limited to 33 pieces, globally, the new Panerai Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech PAM00961 is offered in a 47mm matt black Carbotech case. According to Panerai, Carbotech is both lighter and stronger than ceramic or titanium. It is a bonded carbon material where sheets of carbon fibre are placed on top of one another and bound to form one solid material. As each layer is compressed in a non-uniform pattern, no two cases will ever be the same. The material is both lighter and stronger than ceramic or titanium and is hypoallergenic.

The camouflage-inspired dial accentuates the whole military theme and forms a perfect backdrop for the Khaki / Military green accents which extend from the hour and minute hands on the centre of the dial to the indexes and the strap. You have a subsidiary small seconds display which occupies the 9 o’clock position and a date window at 3 o’clock. The words “MARINA MILITARE” are printed just above 6 o clock.
Yes the aesthetics have done most of the talking here, but the mechanical heart of the PAM00961 cannot be ignored. The watch is powered by a Panerai P.9010 calibre with a 72 hour power reserve, all thanks to the mainspring power barrels, which allow the watch to run autonomously for three days.
