To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ellipse d’Or, Patek Philippe has introduced a special 100-piece limited edition of the timepiece in opulently luxurious platinum.
Staying true to its role as the preserver of ancient traditions, Patek Philippe beautifully makes use of two exceptional crafts in the creation of the anniversary special Ellipse d’Or. The enamel arts, and engraving come together to create an exquisite dial framed by a 34.50 x 39.50mm platinum case in the iconic ellipse shape.
The Ellipse d’Or evokes the timelessly classic combination of black and white, ensuring it stays in style for years to come. The white-gold dial features an elaborately hand-engraved pattern, with the remaining spaces filled with a black enamel lacquer. The central motif of the engraving is reminiscent of Patek Philippe’s striking Calatrava cross logo and represents the painstaking artistry and precision of the master craftsmen.
The contrast between the deep black enamel and the white-gold of the dial-face makes a bold, yet incredibly stylish statement, and the hours and minutes are marked by white-gold hands.
Half-a-Century of Style
The solid-platinum case back of the Ellipse d’Or is engraved with the words ‘Ellipse d’Or 1968-2018’ to celebrate the milestone event.
A black onyx cabochon that matches the dial is set into the crown, and in the style of every Patek Philippe platinum timepiece, this limited-edition Ellipse d’Or also has a diamond set in the case band at 6 o’clock. The watch comes with a hand-stitched black alligator leather strap, fastened with a white gold clasp.
