On the 14th of March, TAG Heuer announced a three year extension to its partnership with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, as the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. From drivers, to the pit lane crew to the general public, TAG Heuer’s timepieces and overall presence simply cannot be ignored. It’s a partnership that started in 2015, when two promising young drivers encountered a seemingly irreversible fall-out with engine supplier Renault. TAG Heuer seized the opportunity and helped the team by investing in a new engine, that you see on the circuit today.
TAG Heuer has been intimately linked to the Formula 1 World Championship since its inception in 1950, providing several teams with mechanical chronometers designed to measure time to 1/10th of a second. The brand has been associated with and supported some of the greatest F1 teams, the greatest drivers, and the most legendary circuits. They were the Official Timekeeper for the Scuderia Ferrari Team from 1971 to 1979, while the legendary driver Ayrton Senna was chosen as the first Ambassador for the “Don’t Crack Under Pressure” campaign.
Days ahead of the big race, TAG Heuer welcomed Pierre Gasly, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s newest member to their Melbourne boutique. Commenting on his visit Gasly said “It’s been a fun afternoon. TAG Heuer are such a famous brand in the world of motor racing that it’s been cool to come and learn more about the history of the company and see the watches up close in the store. I’m super excited about the season and can’t wait to get started this weekend here in Melbourne.”
On the day, Gasly was seen wearing the Carrera Heuer 01, a contemporary sports watch inspired by Motor Racing. Powered by an in-house Heuer 01 automatic movement, the 45mm watch features a black skeleton dial with rhodium plated luminescent indexes. The rubber strap is well made, extremely comfortable and completes the overall look. The Carrera Heuer 01 timepiece is available in TAG Heuer Boutiques across Australia.
