Thinking out of the box, Richard Mille combines a variety of materials with gem-set black ceramic to present a singular collection for women.
If diamonds speak the language of elegance, ceramic is fluent in artistry. When used in watchmaking, both of them test the mettle of a watchmaker. Standing on the crossroads of technical innovation, artistry and heritage, Richard Mille is a brand that’s synonymous with technicity and hand-finishing in fine watchmaking. With its latest collection for the wrists of sophisticated ladies, Richard Mille brings in high profile drama. The maison fuses together diamonds and black ceramic to create a beautiful collection.

Material benefits
Richard Mille enjoys the exceptional privilege of a brand that understands how different materials work in tandem with each other in a watch. It selected TPZ ceramic for RM 07-01 Black Ceramic as it is a hard and scratch resistant material. With its extremely fine grain texture, it has a perfect finish with matte effect. It is the outcome of a long and delicate process of milling and micro-shot peening. The complex shapes of the bezel and case bottom required the intervention of a finisher, who polished each angle by hand.
Gem-set, go!
RM 07-01 Black Ceramic also features red gold prongs. Each prong has been produced separately. Having polished it and given it an even finish, it has been embedded in the many settings of the watch. Each prong is 0.25 millimetre in diameter. This enables it to receive and hold fast the diamonds placed by the gem-setter. The diamonds are full-cut stones, flaunting exceptional clarity. The velvety black of the ceramic and the sparkle of diamonds set each other off spectacularly.
The case in gem-set black ceramic and red gold houses an in-house Calibre CRMA2, an automatic movement. It has been assembled on a baseplate and bridges crafted in grade 5 titanium. Its variable-geometry rotor in 18-carat 5N red gold makes it possible to adjust the automatic winding to the activity levels of its wearer. The dial in 5N red gold set with black onyx and diamonds sits like a discrete echo of the technical feat displayed by the bezel.
The RM 07-01 Black Ceramic will be unveiled at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva in January 2018. You will have to wait for another month to witness this masterpiece. We promise you, it will be worth the wait!
