With approximately three weeks to go before the opening of the 29th WPHH (World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie), to be held from January 14th to 18th 2019, Franck Muller continues to reign supreme in the world of Grand Complications, with a range of timepieces that are both unique and magical.
Endowed with a playful design and infusion of colours, Franck Muller’s new Vanguard Crazy Hours™ is just a foretaste of the many marvels that will be presented at the heart of its Manufacture within the recently enlarged Watchland site in Genthod, on the shores of Lake Geneva, in January 2019.
The most iconoclastic complication of the brand: the Crazy Hours™, is highlighted in a daring new avatar; a Vanguard™ case with sporty curves. The complication comprises a jumping hour module and an automatic movement. While the hour hand jumps to point the correct hour numeral, the minute hand revolves round the dial in a traditional 60-minute cycle. Although the hour numerals seem randomly placed, there is a sequence to the ‘crazy’ hours – each subsequent number is placed at an approximately 120-degree arc away from the preceding number. Time becomes a value that is personal, individual, and unique. You’ll find yourself eagerly waiting at each 59th minute to observe the Crazy Hours’ mesmerizing jump.
In a nod to unconventional and fanciful representation of telling time, the luminescent hands and applied numerals are emboldened with a slew of eye-popping colours (blue, red, green or orange) that add to the aerial architecture of the new Vanguard Crazy Hours™. The brushed stainless steel dial makes it even more exciting. The luminescent hands match the color of the audacious applied numerals, and the lines of the box have been worked to give it a sporty and modern character.
Housed inside the 44mm stainless steel case, is a self winding FM 2800 CH mechanical movement with a solid 42-hour power reserve.
